lesbian bar began as an artistic initiative and has since evolved into a real-political space. It articulates a queer-feminist perspective and proposes a situated environment shaped by the lesbian gaze.
Launched in November 2024 as an art project by Catharina Wronn, it emerged from the desire to open up a dedicated space for dykes and their communities. This impulse brought her together with Lisa Holzinger, leading to the formation of Lesbian Bar as a collaborative and evolving project.
Currently operating without a fixed location, Lesbian Bar adopts a nomadic approach – appearing where it is needed and temporarily reconfiguring space through presence, relation, and collective experience.
At the door, this approach takes a more explicit form: Lesbian Bar is an evolving space that aims to create a gathering place for dykes of all kinds and the LGBTIQ+ community. It is a space for dykes, trans women and trans men, trans masc and trans femme folks, nonbinary, agender, intersex, and cis women. We welcome people of all backgrounds and gender histories. We will not check anyone’s identity. Friends and allies are welcome to join as long as everyone engages with respect.
